SANTA ROSA BEACH — A construction worker was seriously injured when he was struck by a trailer along County Road 393 on Tuesday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

According to the release, a pickup hauling a trailer was traveling north on CR 393. A 25-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was working in construction zone and walking alongside the pickup.

A dark-colored sedan was traveling south on CR 393. While attempting to avoid being struck by the sedan, the worker was instead hit from the rear by the pickup truck's trailer.

The sedan continued driving south and did not stop at the scene.

The pickup truck and trailer stopped in the north lane. The worker was flown to a local hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition, the release said.

No one involved in the incident has been identified by the FHP.
